Roofing Company in St. Hedwig, TX
St. Hedwig is about 20 miles east of San Antonio, roughly a 25 minute drive. Most properties out here have more than one roof on them, and that's the thing that shapes every quote we write here. The house is only where the job starts.
Bexar County, TX
The multi-structure property is the real job
Drive any of the farm roads through St. Hedwig and you'll see the pattern quickly. The main house sits back from the road with a driveway and a yard, and behind it are the working buildings: a barn, a shop, an equipment shed, sometimes a hay cover or a shade shelter for livestock. On most St. Hedwig properties, the house isn't even the biggest roof on the parcel. That reality is what makes roofing out here its own conversation. If we walk out for a quote and only look at the house, we've missed half the job.
Metal outbuildings are the piece homeowners often want handled alongside the primary residence. Panels sun-cook over decades. Mastic at fastener heads dries out and cracks. Ridge caps loosen. Where a barn or shop roof needs partial panel replacement rather than a full re-roof, we scope it that way and we're honest about it. Where the panels are past service life and the fasteners have wallowed the holes, we say so. We don't turn a repair into a replacement to pad the ticket, and we don't oversell a re-roof on a barn that only needs its ridge redone.
The primary residence in St. Hedwig is usually older, with the Polish settlement roots of the community reflected in a housing stock that's been here for generations. Wood decking, sometimes plank, is common under the shingles. Mature live oaks around the homestead shade parts of the roof and leave others exposed. That mixed light means one slope can be growing algae while the slope across the ridge is UV-baked and brittle. We scope the roof against its own light, not a neighborhood template.
Wind exposure is a real factor on the far east side of Bexar County. Once you're off the FM roads and onto the farm properties, there's open ground between windbreaks. Storms cross that ground with real force, and edge damage on shingle roofs and lifted panels on metal roofs are both things we handle regularly. Being 25 minutes from our shop means we can be on a St. Hedwig property quickly when a storm's done its work. That responsiveness matters more here than in a subdivision because the roofs are bigger and the exposures are worse.

Hail exposure
East Bexar catches spring hail on a regular pattern, and St. Hedwig sits right in the storm band. On shingle we see bruise damage on north and west slopes. On metal outbuildings we see dent damage on the panel field and, sometimes, on the ridge. We photograph every roof on the property and write up the damage across all the structures in one report.
Tree cover
Tree cover in St. Hedwig follows the age of the property. Older homesteads have mature live oaks over the primary house, sometimes overhanging the roof itself. Newer parcels and outbuilding areas run open. Shaded roof sections hold moisture and grow moss and algae. Open sections age faster from sun. We scope each slope against its own exposure rather than by street.
HOA material rules
HOA presence in St. Hedwig is essentially zero. The community is rural, most parcels are large, and material choice is open. Metal is a genuine option on the primary home as well as the outbuildings, and we get asked for it often. Shingle still fits many homes here just fine. We price both honestly when both are candidates rather than steering by product margin.
Typical roof age
Roof ages vary widely by structure on the same property. A primary home might be on its second or third roof while the barn behind it still has original metal from decades back. We assess each structure on its own history rather than assuming the property has a single roof age. That's part of why a St. Hedwig walk-through takes longer than a subdivision quote.

Can you re-roof my barn and my house at the same time?
Yes, and we prefer it when the timing works. Doing both structures on the same mobilization keeps the total cost lower than treating them as separate jobs, and it gives you one insurance conversation instead of two if a storm's involved. We'll walk both roofs at the quote stage and lay out the options structure by structure.
My shop has a metal roof with a few bad panels. Does that need a full replacement?
Not always. If the majority of the panels are sound and the fasteners haven't wallowed out the holes, we can replace the specific bad panels and re-seal the field. If the roof is past service life across the board, we'll say so and price a full replacement instead. We won't push you toward the bigger job when the smaller one is the honest answer.
Do the outbuildings need permits, or is it just the house?
It depends on the specific work and the structure. Some outbuilding roof work falls under residential permitting and some doesn't, and the answer varies by address. We check what applies to your property before we start rather than guessing. You don't need to sort any of that out on your end.
There's a lot of wind out here. What should I be looking for on my roof?
On shingle, look at the eaves and the ridge. Lifted tabs along edges, broken sealant lines, and missing ridge caps are all wind signals. On metal, look for loose or backed-out fasteners, ridge caps that have shifted, and any panels that show new movement in the seams. If you're seeing any of that after a storm, that's when to call. We'll photograph and document either way.
Is the drive time going to bump the price?
No. St. Hedwig is a normal stop on our east-Bexar routing and we don't add a distance surcharge on quotes here. The pricing you'd get on a house on the west side of San Antonio is the pricing you'll get here for the same roof scope. What changes on a rural property is usually the number of structures involved, not the per-square rate.
