Why gutters matter more than they look like they do

Gutters aren't cosmetic. Their job is to move roof runoff away from your foundation — and in South Texas expansive clay soils, that's not a small deal. A poorly draining downspout dumping five feet from your house can dry-shrink the soil under your foundation between storms and slowly move your slab.

Seamless gutters solve the biggest failure point of sectional gutters: the seams. Every seam is a future leak; run one continuous piece and you've eliminated the problem. We form our gutters on-site from a coil brake truck, so runs match your fascia length exactly.

Guards & sizing

The details that determine whether they actually work.

Two things separate gutters that work from gutters that overflow: sizing and guards. Cheap 5" gutters undersized for a large roof will overflow in a real Texas downpour no matter how clean they are.

5-inch K-style

Standard for most homes. Handles typical residential roof runoff.

6-inch K-style

40% more capacity than 5". Recommended for larger roofs, steep pitches, or heavy oak-canopy neighborhoods.

Micro-mesh gutter guards

Stainless steel mesh keeps leaves and oak tassels out while letting rain through. Worth it under trees; not always needed for open-yard homes.

Our process

How it goes, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Measure & quote

We measure linear feet of runs and count downspouts. Color options are matched to your trim.

  2. 02

    On-site fabrication

Aluminum coil is fed through our brake truck at your driveway and cut to exact run length.

  3. 03

    Hanging & downspouts

Hidden hangers screwed to fascia every 24", downspouts placed to drain away from foundation.

  4. 04

    Splash blocks & extensions

We finish with splash blocks or downspout extensions where needed to keep water 5+ feet from your slab.

Pricing guidance

What seamless gutters run

Most whole-home installs in San Antonio fall between $1,200 and $3,500 for standard 5" aluminum. Upgrades to 6", copper, or gutter guards adjust from there.

We'll often bundle gutter install with a roof replacement at a discount, since we're already on-site with equipment.

What affects the number

  • Total linear feet of gutter run
  • Number of downspouts and length of each
  • Gutter size (5" vs. 6")
  • Material — standard aluminum vs. copper (significantly more expensive)
  • Gutter guards (typically $8–$15 per linear foot installed)
  • Two-story vs. single-story access

Do I really need gutters in San Antonio?

You need them if water dumps near your foundation, and you can live without them if your grade carries water away on its own. Our clay soils move with moisture, and uneven watering around a slab is what cracks it.

Walk your house after the next hard rain and look. Splash trenches along the drip line, mulch washed out of beds, water pooling against the slab, or a stained band low on the brick all mean you need gutters.

The other reason is doors and windows. Roof runoff falling straight past a doorway soaks trim and siding over and over, and that is where rot starts on Hill Country homes.

If your lot slopes away cleanly and you see none of that after a storm, gutters are optional. We would rather tell you that than sell you a hundred feet of aluminum you do not need.

Are seamless gutters worth more than sectional gutters?

Worth it on most homes, because the seams are where sectional gutters eventually leak. Seamless runs are formed to length on site, so a long wall gets one continuous piece with joints only at corners and outlets.

Fewer joints means fewer places for sealant to fail, less staining down the fascia, and less maintenance over the life of the gutter. Properly installed seamless aluminum commonly lasts 20 to 30 years.

Sectional is genuinely fine in some cases. A small simple roofline with short runs, or a detached garage or shed, does not need custom forming, and the cheaper option there is the sensible one.

Most whole home installs here fall between $1,200 and $3,500 for standard 5 inch aluminum, and we often bundle the work with a roof replacement since the crew and equipment are already on site.

FAQ

Questions we hear often.

Do I really need gutter guards?

Yes if you have oak trees, live oaks especially — their tassels clog gutters like nothing else. Open-yard homes can usually get by without them if you clean once or twice a year.

How long do aluminum gutters last?

20–30 years is typical for properly installed seamless aluminum. Painted finishes fade before the metal fails.

Will you install new gutters on the same day as my roof?

Often yes — we schedule the two crews back-to-back so you're not managing multiple visits. Sometimes we come the day after to allow the roof crew clean access.

Can you tie downspouts into a drainage system?

Yes, we can connect downspouts to French drains or dry wells if you already have them, or refer you to a drainage specialist if the yard needs more comprehensive work.
